Shutting the door on his 11th save, Trevor Megill fired a clean top of the ninth and recorded two strikeouts while securing a two-run lead against the Reds. He threw 10 pitches (80 Strike%) and produced three whiffs. This extended his scoreless streak to nine games, during which he’s posted a 0.556 WHIP with 14 strikeouts versus two walks (37.5 K-BB%) across nine innings.
After working in back-to-back games, this should close the books on him through the end of the month. Here are his updated splits by month:

Following a slow start, he has turned the corner in May and June. Health and durability remain issues for Megill, but his performance has benefited those who picked him up before or just after his save on May 15. But note, he has not recorded more than 47 innings in a major league season.
- Aaron Ashby picked up his MLB-leading 11th win, allowing a hit and striking out one during a scoreless top of the eighth ahead of his team’s go-ahead rally at the bottom of the frame.
- Chad Patrick logged 1.1 scoreless frames, giving up a hit and striking out two.
Hierarchy Remains: Trevor Megill | Abner Uribe | Aaron Ashby
Age? Regression? Or Both?
Arizona Diamondbacks – Presented a three-run lead at the top of the ninth, Paul Sewald turned in another white-knuckle ride while escaping with his 19th save. It started with Heliot Ramos hitting a home run leading off the inning, followed by Bryce Eldridge’s single and a groundout moving him to second, then Drew Cavanaugh produced an RBI single. Sewald bore down, retiring the next two batters on pop-outs, finishing with three hits and two earned runs on 19 pitches (12 strikes – 63.2 Strike%) without a whiff. This marks consecutive games in which he’s allowed multiple hits and earned runs. Updated his monthly splits reveal some recent trends, though he had not pitched in the five days preceding this appearance:

For the season, he has a .197 BABIP, but after this outing, it’s at .320 in June. Where it settles in July may determine his leash for save chances in the second half:

Fatigue may be a factor, as he made only 22 appearances last season and 42 in 2024.
- Brandyn Garcia stranded a runner while striking out his only batter (Rafael Devers) at the top of the eighth for his eighth hold.
- Kevin Ginkel gave up a hit, an earned run, and a walk while striking out one.
Updated Hierarchy: Paul Sewald | Kevin Ginkel | Brandyn Garcia
Miami Marlins – Finishing off a win in Colorado in a non-save appearance, Pete Fairbanks allowed Edouard Julien’s leadoff single, followed by Jake McCarthy’s RBI double, then bore down, retiring the next three batters on two groundouts sandwiched around a strikeout. He finished with two hits, an earned run, and a strikeout on 19 pitches (13 strikes – 68.4 Strike%) with three whiffs (15.8 SwStr%). Although he avoided a big inning, he has allowed at least a run in three consecutive outings and in five of his last nine, nudging his season WHIP to 1.36 on the season.
His updated splits by month illustrate that this has been who he is to this point of the season:

Hope lies in the reduced walk rate in June, but contact remains an issue:

- Calvin Faucher retired the side at the bottom of the eighth, facing the 6-7-8 hitters.
- Michael Petersen notched his 13th hold. He stranded two runners at the bottom of the sixth and gave up a solo home run against Hunter Goodman while recording a strikeout across his 1.1 innings.
Hierarchy Remains: Pete Fairbanks | Michael Petersen | Anthony Bender
Here are the remaining leverage events of interest from Monday.
American League

He threw 11 pitches (90.9 Strike%) and generated three whiffs (27.3 SwStr%) while recording two strikeouts during his first save of the season.

He’s been scoreless in seven of eight games in June, posting a 0.875 WHIP with seven strikeouts and no walks (24.1 K-BB%) across eight innings.
- Tyron Guerrero notched his seventh hold, giving up a hit and striking out two in a scoreless eighth.
- Danny Coulombe issued a walk during a scoreless seventh for his seventh hold.
Hierarchy Remains: Aroldis Chapman | Garrett Whitlock | Justin Slaten
Chicago White Sox – Closing out a six-run lead against the Orioles, Brandon Eisert fired a clean bottom of the ninth, striking out the side against the 6-7-8 pocket.
Grant Taylor took over a tied game at the bottom of the seventh and retired all six batters faced, two via strikeout, including the top of the lineup, while collecting his fourth win. He threw 24 pitches (17 strikes – 70.8 Strike%) and generated six whiffs (25 SwStr%). His role remains in limbo, but if he’s logging multiple innings and racking up strikeouts, fantasy managers will benefit. He’s retired the last 12 batters he’s faced across his last two appearances, six via strikeout.
- Chris Murphy stranded a runner and issued a walk during two-thirds of the sixth.
Hierarchy Remains: *Grant Taylor | *Bryan Hudson | *Seranthony Domínguez
*= closer-by-committee
Minnesota Twins – Hanging on despite giving up a solo home run by Cam Smith, Yoendrys Gómez recorded his ninth save, eighth with the Twins, inducing a game-ending groundout by Joey Loperfido. He only threw seven pitches (71.4 Strike%) and produced one whiff (14.3 SwStr%) while recording one out in Houston.
- Travis Adams worked 1.2 innings, but allowed two earned runs on a two-run home run by Taylor Trammell, and issued two walks while striking out one across 1.2 innings.
Updated Hierarchy: Yoendrys Gómez | Andrew Morris | Taylor Rogers
Texas Rangers – Shutting the door on his 17th save, Jacob Latz logged two clean frames and recorded a strikeout, preserving a three-run lead against the Guardians. He threw 17 pitches (12 strikes – 70.6 Strike%) and produced three whiffs (17.6 SwStr%). This marked his tenth save in June and his third requiring two innings. On the season, he has recorded five two-out saves and nine saves of four outs or more, leading all MLB relievers.
- Jakob Junis was credited with his 11th hold, allowing two hits and an earned run while striking out one in the seventh.
- Robby Ahlstrom collected his third win, issuing a walk during a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
Hierarchy Remains: Jacob Latz | Jakob Junis | Peyton Gray
Toronto Blue Jays – Snapping his team’s six-game losing skid while sealing a one-run lead, Louis Varland retired Francisco Lindor, allowed an infield single by Jared Young, walked A.J. Ewing, then recorded back-to-back strikeouts for his 17th save. He threw 23 pitches (14 strikes – 60.9 Strike%) and produced three whiffs (13 SwStr%). It’s his first save since June 22 and his ninth across 13 appearances this month, posting a 0.80 WHIP with 22 strikeouts against three walks (33.3 K-BB%) through 15 innings.

- Tyler Rogers worked around a hit and a walk for a scoreless eighth, notching his 18th hold.
- Mason Fluharty retired his only batter in the seventh and stranded a runner, securing his 11th hold.
Hierarchy Remains: Louis Varland | Tyler Rogers | Jeff Hoffman
Quick Hits
- Baltimore Orioles: Entering a tied game at the top of the eighth, Grant Wolfram hit Sam Antonacci with a pitch and gave up an RBI double by Colson Montgomery, ceding the lead, resulting in his second loss. He finished with a hit, two earned runs, and a strikeout during two-thirds of an inning. Rico Garcia let his only inherited runner score, yielding a hit during one-third of the eighth.
- Cleveland Guardians: During an eventual loss, Colin Holderman stranded a runner in the seventh and retired all four batters, three via strikeout. Erik Sabrowski replaced him in the ninth, giving up three hits, two runs (one earned), and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.
- Houston Astros: Making his major league debut, Miguel Ullola worked two scoreless frames, scattering two hits and striking out four on 30 pitches (21 strikes – 70 Strike%) with five whiffs (16.7 SwStr%).
National League
Chicago Cubs – Benefiting from his team’s tenth walk-off this season, Trent Thornton collected his third win, allowing a hit and striking out one at the top of the ninth. He threw 12 pitches (66.7 Strike%) and induced two whiffs (16.7 SwStr%). He’s been scoreless in his last four appearances, recording a save and a win.
- Caleb Thielbar stranded a runner despite giving up a hit and a walk during one-third of the eighth.
- Gavin Hallowell logged 1.1 scoreless frames, walking one and striking out two.
Hierarchy Remains: *Jacob Webb | *Caleb Thielbar | *Trent Thornton
*= closer-by-committee
Cincinnati Reds – Taking over at the bottom of the sixth, Chase Petty suffered his first blown save, allowing four hits, including a solo home run by Brice Turang, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out one across 1.2 innings.
- Sam Moll stranded a runner during the seventh, but gave up a hit and an earned run while striking out one in his combined inning.
- Tejay Antone let his only inherited runner score on Joey Ortiz’s go-ahead two-run home run, handing Moll his sixth loss.
The good news is that Emilio Pagán will be activated before Tuesday’s game, providing some stability to this leverage ladder.

Updated Hierarchy: Emilio Pagán | Brock Burke | Tejay Antone
Pittsburgh Pirates – Although he warmed up for a potential save chance, Mason Montgomery settled for a scoreless bottom of the ninth, issuing a walk and striking out two while preserving a four-run lead in Philadelphia. He faced the top of the lineup, throwing 19 pitches (8 strikes – 42.1 Strike%) with three whiffs (15.8 SwStr%).

Through ten games in June, he owns a 1.758 WHIP with 16 strikeouts against six walks (21.8 K-BB%) in 9.2 innings. He has strikeout upside, but his command remains shaky.
- Yohan Ramírez let his only inherited runner score, allowing J.T. Realmuto’s RBI single, and issued a walk before inducing an inning-ending strikeout for his fifth hold.
- Gregory Soto was credited with his seventh hold, despite allowing two hits, including a solo home run by Brandon Marsh, and recorded a strikeout during two-thirds of the eighth.
- Evan Sisk notched his fifth hold, yielding a hit and striking out one in a scoreless seventh.
Fantasy managers can take a chance on Montgomery, but this was a matchups-based approach. His 11.2 percent walk rate contributes to his current 1.408 WHIP through 32.2 innings.
Adjusted Hierarchy: *Mason Montgomery | *Yohan Ramírez | *Gregory Soto
*= closer-by-committee
San Diego Padres – Summoned with two runners on and no outs at the bottom of the ninth, Mason Miller gave up Alex Bregman’s single and induced a double-play flyout, with Dansby Swanson out at home trying to score, but Seiya Suzuki launched an RBI-single. Miller finished with two hits during two-thirds of the ninth. This was such a confusing usage pattern by Craig Stammen. If Miller was your guy with the score tied, why not let him open the ninth with a clean slate, not leave Adam in for an extended outing?
- Jason Adam worked a clean bottom of the eighth, then returned for the ninth, giving up back-to-back singles, prompting his removal. He suffered his second loss when his inherited runner scored the winning run.
- Adrian Morejon tossed 1.1 scoreless frames, walking one and striking out two.
Hierarchy Remains: Mason Miller | Jason Adam | Adrian Morejon
Quick Hits
- Colorado Rockies: Called on with two runners on and two outs at the top of the fifth, Victor Vodnik let both score on Griffin Conine’s three-run home run, adding an earned run to his ledger. He logged 1.1 innings and was charged with his third loss. Antonio Senzatela allowed four hits, four earned runs, and a walk during two-thirds of the seventh.
- Los Angeles Dodgers: Wrapping up a five-run lead against the A’s, Jack Dreyer stranded one of two inherited runners, giving up a walk and striking out one over two-thirds of the ninth. Jonathan Hernández allowed two hits, an earned run, and a walk with one strikeout during his 1.1 innings. Kyle Hurt fired a clean seventh, striking out the side.
