Updated RP Rankings | 5.4.2026

As our updated saves tracker illustrates, saves at the top end of the closer universe are decreasing in 2026:

However, the force may be with fantasy managers on May the Fourth. Daniel Palencia was activated on Sunday. And two more closers will be back on Tuesday:

Jhoan Duran, sidelined since 4/11 with a strained muscle in his left side, will return from injured list Tuesday "unless something weird happens," Don Mattingly said.

Also, Mattingly said he wanted to pair Garrett Stubbs with Aaron Nola b/c they've worked well together in past.

Awaiting the latest news makes getting this posted the primary purpose. Instead of stock reports, these three closers will be incorporated into the rankings. Although there has not been a save opportunity for the Orioles, Rico Garcia and Yennier Cano enter the saves ranks. The Angels may get help soon in the form of Kirby Yates and Ben Joyce, though we prefer the latter; some patience may be required. Lastly, Ryan Walker has been removed from the rankings. If Tony Vitello doesn’t make this change, we will handle it for him.

When assessing the rankings, understand that they remain fluid as sample sizes grow. They are a mix of in-season results and rest-of-season potential. Rankings should be part of a fantasy player’s toolkit, not the sole source of evaluation. This week may look different. I used updated SGPs (standard gains points) for the season and the last two weeks, with an eye on rest-of-season potential.
