Minnesota Twins – Randy Dobnak picked up a 3-inning save in Monday’s blowout victory over the Tigers. He doesn’t factor into the Twins usual late-inning plans.

Kansas City Royals – Jesse Hahn, who saved three games and pitched extremely well for the Royals during the shortened 2020 campaign, picked up his first save of 2021 on Monday. Greg Holland, ostensibly the closer, hadn’t pitched since opening day, and he was getting loose in the bullpen throughout the 9th, but after allowing two men to reach, Hahn closed the door. We’ll slap a committee tag on here until we have more clarity about how the Royals will navigate the late innings.

Philadelphia Phillies – With Hector Neris getting the night off, Jose Alvarado got the call in the 9th, earning his first save of the season. Alvarado and Archie Bradley will split chances on nights where Neris is unavailable.

Chicago Cubs – Alec Mills picked up his first save of the season, spelling Craig Kimbrel, who got the night off. Andrew Chafin was dynamite in the set-up role, striking out all four batters he faced, and Brandon Workman will likely continue to get late-inning work, so we’ll monitor where Mills fits in going forward.

Los Angeles Angels – Raisel Iglesias got the night off after a 30-pitch outing on Sunday, allowing Mike Mayers to pick up the save. The Vulture Save Watch — you read it, right?
