  • Another game, another Red Sox closer down

May 7, 2013 Boston Red Sox — Joel Hanrahan’s ignoble return to the Boston bullpen lasted for precisely four batters, one of whom tapped him for a game-tying home run. • Andrew Bailey hits DL, Joel Hanrahan to close for Red Sox

May 6, 2013 Boston Red Sox – After undergoing an MRI today, Andrew Bailey has been placed on the disabled list with a sore biceps.  Joel Hanrahan will close in his stead.  Hierarchy change: Joel Hanrahan to Closer, Koji Uehara to Set-up, Junichi Tazawa to 2nd in line. |Closer |Set-Up |2nd In Line |2014 Closer…

Hoover in the 9th.  This was Hoover’s 2nd…

May 5, 2013 Chicago Cubs – Carlos Marmol was summoned for the 8th inning with the Cubs up 2.  He proceeded to walk 2 batters and hit another before being pulled without recording an out.  All three runners ended up scoring and Marmol was charged with the loss.  Dale Sveum may have finally lost all…

  • Familia and Hoover get saves, Sean Doolittle pitching well

May 4, 2013 Oakland A’s – Sean Doolittle pitched the 8th, and then stayed on to get the first two outs of the 9th inning, getting Hafner and Ichiro before giving way to Balfour who got one out for the save.  Doolittle has been used in the 8th inning over Ryan Cook a couple times…
