It’s down to the nitty-gritty, and while every save matters for fantasy players, teams not vying for a postseason spot should be auditioning relievers for their 2027 roles. This doesn’t apply to the teams in Chicago, but each has deployed multiple relievers for saves in recent games. With every win magnified, teams may adjust workload management if a move in the standings is at stake. Enjoy the ride; these two weeks may be crazy, but that has been the case for most of the season in the world of high-leverage.
Because teams continue using matchup-based approaches and managing workloads, an MLB record 249 relievers have already recorded a save this season.
When assessing the rankings, keep in mind they remain fluid as the season nears its conclusion. They mix in-season results with rest-of-season potential. Rankings should be part of a fantasy player’s toolkit, not the sole source of evaluation. I continue to use updated SGPs (standard gains points) for the season and the last two weeks, with an eye on rest-of-season potential.
Each category will have an updated leaderboard featuring the leaders for 2026, the second half, and the last 14 days, through games played on September 13.
