It’s down to the nitty-gritty, and while every save matters for fantasy players, teams not vying for a postseason spot should be auditioning relievers for their 2027 roles. This includes:
- Justin Martinez (ARI) – if they are eliminated from playoff contention
- Félix Bautista (BAL) – monitor his velocity
- Aroldis Chapman (BOS) – has a lingering lat issue and plans on pitching during this homestand, but how much he can handle and what the weather allows are open for debate
- Edwin Díaz (LAD) – once his team clinches a first-round bye
- Jeff Hoffman (MIN) – he should get some save chances before the season ends, but has not since his acquisition from Toronto
- Trent Harris (SF) – not sure how many more chances Tony Vitello can provide Dylan Smith with
Because teams continue using matchup-based approaches and managing workloads, an MLB record 254 relievers have already recorded a save this season.
Andrés Muñoz will undergo an MRI after leaving his outing early on Sunday, putting his status in flux. Even if it’s clean, the team will manage his workload over the last few days. Seranthony Domínguez could be in play for streamers or those in deep leagues. Kodai Senga has struggled in recent appearances. The Mets maintain they will manage Devin Williams’ outings closely, so Dedniel Núñez could be another deep league sleeper.
