RP Rankings and Waiver Wire Notes | 6.26.2026

Because saves have been so volatile this season, refreshing them before the weekend games and waiver wire runs should help fantasy managers prepare for recent changes in the high-leverage ecosystem. When assessing the rankings, understand that they remain fluid as sample sizes grow. They are a mix of in-season results and rest-of-season potential. Rankings should be part of a fantasy player’s toolkit, not the sole source of evaluation. This week may look different. I have continued to use updated SGPs (standard gains points) for the season and the last two weeks, with an eye on rest-of-season potential.

Waiver wire recommendations will be listed after the rankings. However, if playing in a shallow format, defer to the rankings based on reliever availability in your league.

Rehab Recon

Daniel Palencia (CHC): Fantasy managers will await progress reports when he begins throwing next week:

Emilio Pagán (CIN): Was slated for his first rehab outing at Triple-A on Thursday, but the game was postponed. This may require a second outing on Sunday for the Reds’ closer, with a potential return by next Tuesday. His return may be expedited with Tony Santillan (oblique) landing on the 15-day injured list.

Carlos Estévez (KC): Will throw another bullpen session on Saturday, June 27, and may be trending toward a minor league rehab assignment, but updates have been few and far between:

Ben Joyce (LAA): He has ramped up, suffered a setback, and is once again throwing only fastballs in Arizona:

Waivers Primer

The following relievers’ usage patterns and results should be tracked closely over the weekend.

  • Sam Bachman (LAA): Is he the Angels’ de facto closer right now?
  • Jimmy Herget (COL): Can he become the team’s preferred save option?
  • Will Vest (DET): Should teams with Jansen be handcuffing just in case?
  • Garrett Whitlock (BOS): Ditto, but for Chapman teams.
  • Mason Barnett (ATH): Is he the A’s flavor of the week?
  • Hogan Harris (ATH): Boring but remains in the mix. How does Mark Kotsay handle him this weekend?
  • Elvis Alvarado (ATH): Are his recent struggles a blip or will the home run issues persist?
  • Jakob Junis (TEX): Keeps getting ancillary saves after Latz records extended appearances.
  • Adrian Morejon (SD): Ratios eraser with win upside (15 over the last 365 days)

Thanks for being a part of the Closer Monkey community. Stay safe, and be well.
