Tyler Rogers, Michael Fulmer now sit atop their committees

May 18, 2021

San Francisco Giants – Jake McGee was ostensibly available on Monday, but with his last outing leaving a bit to be desired, and his ERA currently sitting at 5.09, the Giants went to Tyler Rogers, who earned his fifth save. Rogers (0.73 ERA) moves to the head of the committee for now.

Updated hierarchy: *Rogers | McGee | Doval.
* = closer-by-committee

Detroit Tigers – Michael Fulmer picked up his third save yesterday (all since May 5th), throwing a scoreless inning after Gregory Soto got the last out of the 8th. Fulmer moves to the top of this committee and could look to run with the job.

Updated hierarchy: *Fulmer | Soto | Cisnero.
* = closer-by-committee

Minnesota Twins – In his second relief appearance of this season, Willians Astudillo was ever so close to extending his scoreless streak to two perfect innings, until he tried to sneak a 4th straight eephus pitch past Yermin Mercedes, who crushed the 47.1 mph offering to deep center to give the White Sox a 12-run lead. La Tortuga’s quest for a 0.00 ERA season is over.

Hierarchy remains: *Robles | Rogers | Duffy.
* = closer-by-committee
