Detroit Tigers — The Tigers welcomed Bruce Rondon back to the club on Sunday, and the former closer was terrific in two innings of work during an extra-inning loss to the Royals, allowing no hits and striking out three. Rondon is 15 pounds lighter and has apparently worked hard this year for Triple-A Toledo after being dismissed from Detroit last year because of his “effort level.” If Rondon pitches like this consistently, he can be an important arm for Detroit in the late innings.
Hierarchy remains: Rodriguez | J.Wilson | Greene.
Houston Astros — Chris Devenski pitched the final 3.1 innings in a 6-0 Astros victory to earn his first career save and give the usual late-inning arms a much-needed off day.
Hierarchy remains: Harris | Giles | Gregerson.
