St. Louis Cardinals — Ryan Helsley recorded the last four outs of the game, three via strikeout, to pick up his 9th save of the season. Gallegos still leads the team with ten saves, but since May 21st, Helsley has eight saves compared to just two for Gallegos. Gallegos should still see some save chances the rest of the season but Helsey will receive the majority of the saves and that is enough to kick the asterisk.
Updated hierarchy: Helsley | Gallegos | Cabrera.
Oakland A’s – As the Vulture Save Watch predicted, Lou Trivino got the day off yesterday and Zach Jackson got the 9th inning in his absence. Jackson struck out two in a scoreless inning for his second save of the season.
Hierarchy remains: Trivino | Jackson | Puk.
Chicago White Sox – After Liam Hendriks took the loss in game one of the doubleheader and Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly already pitched on the day, Matt Foster was the next man up in the White Sox bullpen. Foster came on for the 9th inning after the White Sox took a one-run lead in the bottom of the 8th, and he pitched a scoreless inning for his first save of the season.
Hierarchy remains: Hendriks | Graveman | Kelly.
Houston Astros — Rafael Montero got a second straight day off after pitching in both games of the double header on Thursday. Hector Neris and Ryne Stanek were also rested after pitching in two straight. That meant that the save opportunity fell to Bryan Abreu and he pitched a scoreless inning to convert for his first save of the season. Ryan Pressly could return from paternity leave on Sunday.
Hierarchy remains: Montero | Stanek | Neris.
Los Angeles Dodgers — Craig Kimbrell got the day off as the Vulture Save Watch predicted but it could not predict that David Price would record the save. The Dodgers were up four runs heading into the 9th inning but after Reyes Maronta walked a couple batters, Price entered the game. He allowed a couple of hits but was able to record the final out to get his first save of the season. Price became the seventh different pitcher to record a save for the Dodgers this season.
Hierarchy remains: Kimbrel | Phillips | Vesia.
