Ian Kennedy and Joe Barlow record their first saves of the season

May 1, 2022

Arizona Diamondbacks — Ian Kennedy picked up the first save for the Diamondbacks with Mark Melancon on the IL.  Noe Ramirez picked up the 8th inning hold.  Kennedy might not be available today but he should continue to close in Melancon’s absence.

Hierarchy remains: Kennedy | Mantiply | Ramirez.

Texas Rangers – Joe Barlow pitched a perfect 9th inning for his first save of the season.  The Rangers have said they want Barlow to be their closer and if he can convert another save or two, we will be able to kick the asterisk.

Hierarchy remains: *Barlow | Bush | Martin.
* = closer-by-committee

Miami Marlins – Anthony Bender worked around a couple of singles and struck out a pair to secure his sixth save of the season.  Bender has four straight scoreless appearances and he has earned a save in each.  Dylan Floro is on a rehab assignment but if Bender can keep converting save chances, he might have a chance to stay on top of the hierarchy.

Hierarchy remains: *Bender | Sulser | Scott.
* = closer-by-committee
